A couple of days back I had a very interesting teleconference with a Company which tracks Social Media usage in India . It goes by the name of www.Vizisense.com . The general discussion was on growing importance of Social Media. In the course of discussion , some interesting facts were mentioned. All Data was specific to India :
Facebook has 2.2 Crore ( 2,22,00,000 )users
Orkut has 1.8 Crore ( 1,80,00,000 ) users
Between the 2 , that represents 90% of all Social Media Users in India
Ibibo has about 35,00,000 users
The peak Social Media Activity is between 6 pm and 10 pm
For Age Group 25 – 35 , the maximum activity is between 3 pm and 6 pm . Hmm, that means that a major portion of the young workforce is on Social Media during Office hours. Food for thought for Management.
We also discussed how the Fans are becoming Brand Ambassadors . The key question for Companies is how to leverage this .
I do believe that the Company Vizisense is upto something interesting . The findings should be of interest to Media Planners in particular.
